2.) WHERE DO THEY RACE?

ULSA (United Lightning Sprint Association) is the national banner

for lightning sprints. Lightning Sprints race in various states

from California to Canada. The North east region is The Empire

Lightning Sprints, and they race at various facilities in and

around New York state.2009 will focus on the Albany and Binghamton

region.

3.) HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?

A good used car can be purchased for anywhere between $5,000 and

$12,000 ready to race. The best thing about this division is the

goal of moving to a FULLY STOCK motor rule for 2010.There is an

abundance of stock motors available on EBAY and salvage shops for

between $1,000 and $3,000. Lightning Sprints are not abusive on

tires, some teams have been known to run an entire season on the

same front and right rear tires. The over all cost of running a

Lightning Sprint is not very high at all.after the initial costs

of purchasing a car, weekly maintenance and race costs are

surprisingly pretty cheap ( if you keepit in one piece) basic

tuning and maintenance can be accomplished byones self.Sure its

always a good idea to have some friends to help at the track but

its not necessary. I have actually maintained and tuned my car by

myself. I can load it and unload it out of the trailer by myself

and I have actually removed the engine and replaced it with no

help at all. these cars are very easy to work on and require basic

maintenance between races.

4.) HOW FAST ARE THEY?

Because of their power to weight ratio, Lightning Sprints

consistently run lap times a couple of tenths faster than a

Dirt Modified! They are without a doubt the most bang for your

buck on dirt. Modified lap times with the maintenance and costs

of a pure stock!

5.) IS THIS A NEW CLASS? ...NO.

Many people know these cars as minisprints. The Empire Lightning

Sprints was formed this year (2008) The biggest difference is

our goal to ultimately switch to FULLY STOCK motors to cut the

ever rising costs in motor sports. In the past, Altered engines

could cost well over $8,000 and are no where near as reliable as

the stock sport bike engines these teams use. Many teams have won

feature events with nothing more than a completely stock 1000cc

engine overcars with high dollar, highly modified engines The FULLY

STOCK motor rule is what everyone has been waiting for,It makes

the class affordable, fair and the racing is extremely competitive.

This series has generated ALOT of new interest.2009 looks to be a

big year for the Lightning Sprints. We hopr to see you at the races

in 2009!!!!
